The Clarity Conversation

A conversation that brings clarity — before any commitment.

Most leaders reach out when something has become more complex than expected.

  • A performance issue is lingering.
  • A complaint has surfaced.
  • A leadership decision feels high-risk.
  • The structure no longer feels aligned to the business.

Often, the presenting issue looks like a people problem. In reality, it is usually a signal that something underneath needs attention — whether that is leadership clarity, organisational alignment, accountability or how workplace issues are being managed in practice.

Before deciding what process to follow, it is important to understand what is actually driving the situation.

The Clarity Conversation is where that clarity begins.

This is not a sales call. It is a focused, confidential conversation designed to help you better understand what is driving the issue, what risks may be emerging, and what practical options exist.

In many cases, early clarity helps prevent issues from escalating into formal complaints, workplace disputes, employment claims or unnecessary organisational disruption.

By the end of the conversation, you will have a clearer view of what is happening and whether I am the right person to help.

This conversation is right for you if

  • Something in your team is not working and the underlying cause is unclear
  • A performance or conduct issue has remained unresolved longer than it should
  • You are navigating a sensitive or high-risk workplace situation
  • Your business has grown and the structure no longer feels fit for purpose
  • You need an experienced, independent perspective before making an important people decision
What to expect

What the conversation looks like

The Clarity Conversation is typically 45–60 minutes by phone or video.

No preparation is required. You simply tell me what is happening. I will ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully and provide a direct, practical assessment of what I believe is driving the issue and what your options may be.

01

Understanding your context

What is happening, what has already been tried, and what matters most right now.

02

Looking beneath the presenting issue

Exploring what may be driving the situation underneath the surface.

03

Practical assessment

A clear view of the risks, realities and possible pathways forward.

04

Clarifying next steps

If there is a fit, we discuss what support may look like. If there is not, I will tell you honestly.

Organisations I typically work with

  • Growing organisations where structure, leadership capability or accountability have not kept pace with operational complexity
  • Businesses navigating restructure, organisational change or leadership transition
  • Organisations managing sensitive conduct, grievance or performance matters
  • Businesses with internal HR teams requiring specialist employee relations support
  • CEOs seeking an experienced, independent perspective before making a significant people decision

The situations that typically prompt a call

  • A complaint or conduct matter requiring careful, independent handling
  • Leadership inconsistency affecting team performance
  • Structural friction creating recurring people challenges
  • Organisational change carrying employment or psychosocial risk
  • A complex matter requiring specialist employment relations judgement
I work alongside internal HR teams, not in place of them. If you already have an HR manager, I am the specialist they call when a situation requires specialist ER expertise, a strategic lens, or experience their internal team does not yet have.
Clarity first. Then action.
“Something isn’t working, but I can’t yet see exactly why.”

Most workplace issues are easier to resolve when they are addressed early.

The purpose of this conversation is to help you understand what is happening, consider the implications and determine the most appropriate path forward before issues become more difficult, more costly or more disruptive than they need to be.

Sometimes one conversation is enough to identify what is really happening and what to do next.
